Frequently asked questions

Do the lessons match my exam board?

Yes, because each course shows its equivalent: grades 6-8 (Year 7-9), GCSE, IGCSE and O Level for grades 9-10, A Level and IB for grades 11-12, and AP Physics 1, 2, C and AP Chemistry for the American college-level courses.

Do the worksheets come with answers?

Yes, all of them. In fact, the worked answers of each worksheet are on a separate page. You reach them through the “See the answers” image under the questions, so you can try first and check afterwards.

Can I print the pages?

Of course. You can download every lesson, worksheet, lab and test as a free PDF with no sign-up, so it is ready to print on A4 paper.

What is the virtual lab for?

First, it lets you change quantities such as voltage, resistance, angle, object distance or temperature. Then you see the result at once on a diagram or a graph, so you understand the law before you learn it.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, in your browser. Therefore your XP, day streak and badges stay on your device, with no account or password.

This site brings together physics and chemistry for students aged 11 to 18, from grade 6 to the final year of school. It also follows eleven courses, from first science lessons to GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, IB and AP, and every chapter has the same clear structure. Science teachers write the lessons, and you can also download each page as a free PDF.

A course for every level

In addition, each course has its own page that lists its chapters. In middle school, choose grade 6 science, grade 7 science or grade 8 science. For ages 14 to 16, there are separate courses in physics 9-10 and chemistry 9-10, which suit GCSE, IGCSE and O Level students. After that, older students can move on to physics 11-12 and chemistry 11-12 for A Level and IB. Finally, the AP courses are AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C and AP Chemistry.

How each chapter is built

A chapter starts with an illustrated lesson: diagrams, laws, formulas and worked examples that always end with a unit. Next comes a worksheet of twenty problems, from easy to hard, and every worksheet has its worked answers on a separate page. After that, a lab turns the idea into a real experiment, with equipment, safety notes, a method, sample results and analysis questions. Then a 10-question quiz checks what you remember and corrects itself instantly. Finally, a timed test worth 20 marks comes with a full mark scheme, so you can mark your own work before an exam.

How to revise physics and chemistry

So, to make progress, mix reading with doing. First, read the lesson and copy the key formulas. Then try the worksheet without looking at the answers, and mark it afterwards. Meanwhile, the virtual lab lets you change one quantity at a time and watch the result, and the interactive periodic table helps you learn symbols, families and electron shells. In fact, short sessions of fifteen minutes a day work better than one long evening before a test.

For parents and teachers

The timed tests with mark schemes show a student’s real level, while the labs prepare the practical side of the course. For example, teachers can print the PDFs for the classroom, and parents can follow a child chapter by chapter without signing up for anything.

Is the site free?

Yes. Lessons, worksheets, labs, tests, quizzes and PDFs are free to use, and there is also no account to create.

Which levels are covered?

In short, grades 6 to 8, grades 9 and 10 (GCSE, IGCSE, O Level), grades 11 and 12 (A Level, IB), and the AP courses in physics and chemistry.

Are the answers included?

Of course. Each worksheet, lab and test has its answers or mark scheme on a separate page, reached from the “See the answers” image.
